Former Waterbury Mayor Held
At Garner
Philip A. Giordano, the former Waterbury mayor who is serving a 37-year prison sentence for federal child sex offenses, is being held at the stateâs high-security Garner Correctional Institution on Nunnawauk Road, while he faces trial on state child sex charges in Waterbury Superior Court.
Garner Warden Giovanny Gomez confirmed at a recent quarterly meeting of the Garner Correctional Institution Public Safety Committee that Giordano, 40, is being held at Garner.
Until his recent arrival at Garner, Giordano had been held at the US Penitentiary at Atwater, Calif., north of Sacramento. Giordano was convicted earlier this year of violating the civil rights of two preteen girls by sexually abusing them.
Giordano also had been held at Garner earlier this year, while facing the federal sex charges at trial in US District Court in Bridgeport.
