*In support of their new album Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace, country duo BIG & RICH featuring Cowboy Troy are on the road again this fall and will make a stop at Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, October 4, at 7 pm. Tickets are $35 and $50, and went on sale last weekend (sorry, I didn’t receive a press release about this until Monday the 20th) through TicketMaster vendors and the arena’s box office.

*Singer-songwriter-pianist CMc (née Chris McGovern) will bring his unique sound to Mocha Coffee House in Sandy Hook on Friday, August 24, at 7 pm. Also performing will be fellow singer-songwriter (and pianist, too) Cassandra Kubinski.  Admission is free.

CMc was born and raised in Queens, N.Y.  Influenced by artists as diverse as the Beatles, Billy Joel, Franz Liszt and The Clash, he has played keyboards since a very age. He has performed solo and with various bands including Magenta Passport, Orisha, The Foibles and The Lea Brennan Band.

His debut CD, CMc, was released as a CD-R only in 1999. It wasn’t until earlier this year that it was given its first proper CD release. He recently recorded his second disc, The 5 Dollar EP.

*Newtown resident DOUG WAHLBERG has been very busy with his music for years, and has been picking up more shows lately. Wahlberg already did a pretty big show this summer – opening for FOREIGNER at Ives Concert Park – and will be opening for EDDIE MONEY next month in Danbury.

Between then and now there are a few more opportunities to check out the original rock of The Doug Wahlberg Band including tonight’s show at what is more or less the band’s home stage, The Georgetown Saloon in Redding.

Tomorrow night the guys will be headlining again, this time at Levitt Pavilion in Westport (Marc Huberman opens). The band then has a three-night stint at Foxwoods Casino, September 6-8, and then the opening performance for Eddie Money during the 2007 Taste of Danbury on Saturday, September 8. That’ll be a 5:30 show at CityCenter Green (after which the guys will be zipping back out to Ledyard for their third Foxwoods show).

Finally, the band has a September 14 show at The Cutting Room in New York City. Marc Huberman and Roxy Perry will also be performing that evening.

Interested in learning more and hearing some of Doug Wahlberg Band’s music? Visit DougWahlberg.com… oh, and tune in to the Enjoy section next week, when I’ll have a full feature about Doug and his music, too.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
