Occupation: I am a trial attorney who represents primarily individuals. I am board certified in civil trial advocacy and have been practicing since 1983. I received my bachelor of science degree at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., in 1980 and my JD at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh in 1983.

How Long in Newtown: We have lived in Newtown for 12 years. I was brought up in Westport. I lived in Pittsburgh while in college and then came back to Connecticut. I lived in Bridgeport for two years, Shelton for two years, and Oxford, for four years.

Biggest Change You Have Seen in Town: Now you have to make a reservation for dinner, and you’re not always guaranteed a ticket at the town hall theater.

Family: My wife Stephanie and I have been married for 22 years. We have four children: Tara, 15, a student at Newtown High School; Jimmy, 13, a student at Newtown Middle School; and Kelly, 9, and Owen, 7, who attend Hawley School.

Pets: We have a dog, Molly; two cats, Sparky and Oliver; and a rabbit, Dusty; subject to change monthly.

Hobbies: Attending our children’s numerous school and sporting activities, coaching girls’ soccer, playing basketball, reading, and chess.

Favorite Books and Authors: The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway and Arch of Triumph by Enrich Maria Remarque.

Favorite TV Show: Law & Order and The History Channel.

Organizations: Board of Finance, Board of Burgesses of the Borough of Newtown, Trinity Episcopal Church, and Connecticut Bar Association –– House of Delegates and Board of Governors.

Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: I have many memories of Newtown. Some of the most vivid ones include each year’s Labor Day Parade that goes past our Main Street home, and the annual Holiday Festival in December. We have an annual Labor Day barbecue party with a band. It goes all day into the night. It’s our obligation — we live on Main Street. We start off the day with a breakfast. We’ve done it every year.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Our beach house on Long Island Sound.

Personal Philosophy: I subscribe to the philosophy of Sir Edmond Burke — all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. I believe it is important to make a difference and give back to the community.
