AYF Coach’s Meeting

The Newtown Youth Football Association will have a coach’s meeting on Monday May 23, at 7:30 pm, at Newtown High School.All people interested in coaching in the 2005 season are encouraged to attend.     All coaches will be subject to a mandatory background check and do not have to have a child involved in the program to be allowed to coach. Newtown Blue & Gold Golf Tournament

The Newtown High Blue & Gold Booster Club will hold its annual golf tournament on Monday, June 6, at 9 am, at Whitney Farms in Monroe. The booster club promotes the development of Newtown High School athletics and proceeds will benefit the various sports teams as well as other school organizations such as the Tech Club and the Markettes. In the last two years alone, the Booster Club has provided funding in excess of $20,000. The Booster Club also provides scholarships to deserving seniors and in the last two years the Club has awarded seven $1,000 scholarships. The Club is also seeking to raise funds for the construction of an equipment building (complete with rest rooms) which would be between the baseball and sub-varsity football fields (projected cost: $125,000). Fee includes green fees, golf cart, beverage cart, continental breakfast, lunch and a $10,000 hole-in-one contest.

Namath/Dockery Football Camp

The annual Joe Namath/John Dockery Instructional Football Camp will be held July 10 through July 15 at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachussetts. The staff of professional instructors will include Justin McCareins, Kareem McKenzie, Tim Carter, and Dan Klecko. The camp is open to boys ages 8 to 18 and will feature programs on Injury Prevention & Care, Non-Contact, College Selection, Nutritional Guidance, Weight/Fitness, and Running. Michelob ULTRA Golf Tour

The Michelob ULTRA golf tour of Hartford – created for amateur golfers in the region – will make its first stop on Saturday, April 23, at Blackledge Country Club and Anderson’s Glen in Hebron. Other stops will include Tunxis Plantation in Farmington on May 14, Fairview Farm in Harwinton on May 28, and Quarry Ridge in Portland on August 6. Golfers will compete in one of six flights determined by handicap. Top players can earn a trip to the National Championship in Orlando, Florida in October. Waldorf School Golf Tournament

The Housatoniv Valley Waldorf School will host its third annual Benefit Golf Tournament on Monday, June 6, at 9 am, at Candlewood Valley in New Milford. Fee is $140 and includes breakfast, greens fees, cart, lunch, full dinner and prizes. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the school. Call 364-0365 for further information.
