ANNE SMITH ANTIQUES CITY SCENES AMERICAN PAINTINGS w/1 cut

ak/gs set 12/19#723053

BALTIMORE, MD. — Opening January 3, and running thru March 15, Anne Smith Antiques will be exhibiting “City Scenes,” a diverse collection of paintings featuring cities, their architecture and people, as depicted by 15 different artists of the early Twentieth Century.

As with most paintings collected by the Anne Smith Antiques gallery, the artwork exhibited is selected with a view to interesting subject matter rather than focusing on the artists themselves. Included, however, are several paintings by “listed” artists, such as Akida, Arbit Blatas, Sarah Carothers, Irving Lehman, Samuel Koch (Meister), Helen Harvey Shotwell, Edith Dale Monson, Karl Metzler and Frederick S. Frank.

The centerpiece paintings of the exhibit is a large oil on canvas dated 1953 by Franck, showing a modernist view of houses in Amsterdam. He exhibited internationally as well as in the United States.

Anne Smith Antiques is at 222 West Read Street. The gallery is open Saturday, from 11 am to 4 pm, or by appointment or chance.
