Prescription For A Healthy Heart

DANBURY — Coronary heart disease is America’s Number One killer. Every year, diseases of the heart and blood vessels lead to more than 950,000 deaths. That’s why it’s so important to reduce your risk factor, know the warning signs, and know how to respond quickly and properly if warning signs occur.

Find out what you can do to keep your heart and blood vessels healthy at the next Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meeting, “Prescription for a Healthy Heart,” on Tuesday, February 15. The program takes place from 7 to 8:30 pm at the hospital’s auditorium located at 24 Hospital Avenue.

The featured speaker is Harvey M. Kramer, MD, assistant clinical professor of international medicine, Yale University School of Medicine; founding member, board of directors, Heritage Affiliate, TriState American Heart Association specialist, cardiovascular diseases, section of cardiology, Department of Medicine, Danbury Hospital, Danbury Office of Physician Services, PC. He will provide the latest information about heart and blood vessel diseases with a focus on prevention.

Kevin M. Bills, program director, the Marcus Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Danbury Hospital (Cardiac Rehabilitation and Preventive Cardiology Services) will serve as the program’s moderator.

Prior to the program there will be free blood pressure screenings and heart healthy low-fat snacks and recipes in the auditorium foyer from 6 to 7 pm. A raffle prize drawing, giveaways and educational materials also will be provided.

Ample time will be provided for audience questions. Medical Town Meetings are co-sponsored by Danbury Hospital and the Danbury Office of Physician Services, PC and are free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. Park free in the blue visitor’s parking lot, Hospital Avenue entrance.
