Garden Club Program: Envisioning A Garden For Any Home

The Garden Club of Newtown program for January will help gardeners plan for the garden they want to have this summer.  Speaker Virginia Small will conduct a participatory program, “Planning Your Paradise: Envisioning and Troubleshooting your Garden.”

The program will take place at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 24, in the Olga Knoepke Memorial Room of Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown.

This program will help participants plan for the gardening season through a series of guided exercises. The focus will be on how to create a garden that suits each person and their family, including how to establish priorities and troubleshoot problem areas.

Virginia Small is an award-winning journalist and photographer. As former senior editor of Fine Gardening magazine, she scouted and worked with gardening authors throughout the US.

Her articles and photographs have also appeared in Garden Design magazine, The New York Times, USA Today, St Petersburg Times, Milwaukee Journal, Sentinel, and Sarasota Magazine.

She received a Certificate of Design Excellence from Print magazine and an Award of Merit from Garden Writers of America for her photography in Fine Gardening.

An avid gardener, Ms Small has studied garden design history at the New York Botanical Garden. She gardens in Woodbury.

The public is invited to attend the free lecture, and registration is not necessary.  For more information call 270-1108.
