Youth baseball scores and highlights from this past week are as follows:

 

Cal Ripken Results

Newtown Thunder 5, Brookfield Bandits 2: Jason Hebner tripled, Lucas O’Brien doubled in a run and Will Huegi had two hits in leading the Thunder to victory over their rivals from Brookfield. Adam Bergeron, Ben Dieckman, and Colby Olson pitched well.

Roy’s Automotive 4, Sal e Pepe Express 2: Player of the week Kenny Malin had three hits for Roy’s and Greg Brissette pitched well; Jeff Klein and Adam Bergeron led Sal’s

MSR Music 7, Grimes Times 1: Billy Kase and Colby Olson led the great defense of the Musicmen, while Danny Clarke pitched well in defeat.

Whitlock Cabinetworks 8, Sal e Pepe Heroes 2: Boomer Debona had two hits and Willie Whitlock hit and pitched well leading the cabinet makers to victory; Eric Hrabczak and Robert Hutchins starred for the heroes.

Connecticut Ear, Nose And Throat 10, Stratton Faxon 7: Jason Hebner pitched well and Robbie Lombardo hit well to lead the Doctors to victory.

CT ENT 9, Atty Buzzi 1: Avi Bhaya had three hits and Jack Whelan played great to lead the doctors over the attorneys. Sam Grossano and Connor Barrett played well in defeat.

Grade 6

Rich’s Keys & Locks 14, Teamsters 10: The hit parade began on Saturday when Ethan Carpenter and Griffin Davis plastered two balls deep over the fence at Glander Field. Sunday afternoon the homeruns continued from Jack Procaccini, Albert Dean and Justin Appley. Procaccini, Dean, Davis, Carpenter, Williamson, and Perun all pitched well, while Curtis Williamson, James Accousti, and Patrick Briscoe all had multiple hits to help seal the victory. Great defensive plays were made by Justin Tran and Albert Dean. Rich’s Keys & Locks is now 8-5.

9-Year-Olds

Quality Dental of Danbury 1, Associated Refuse 0: Austin Hurley’s bases-loaded single broke the scoreless tie. Cole Demirjian, Jimmy Davies, and John Albanesi combined for the shutout. Ben Terry and Jack Swanson pitched well and kept the game close.

Quality Dental of Danbury 13, Newtown Youth Academy 7: Derrick Lewis’s tremendous catch and three hits sparked the victory. Kevin Riccardi (three hits), Ryan Burns (two hits) and Matthew Menousek (two RBI) led the offensive attack. Robert Disibio crushed a three-run homer and John Finnegan had two hits for NYA.

15U/14U

Brookfield 3, Newtown Base Technologies 1: Brookfield pitcher Tom Brady scattered six hits and pitched a rare complete game Sunday at Fairfield Hills Field in Newtown. Newtown’s John Lebinski also pitched an excellent game, hurling six innings, giving up five hits and striking out six batters. Lebinski and teammate Ben Stoller had no problem with the pinpoint Brookfield pitcher, each ripping two hits. In the third inning, Stoller clouted a double to right center, stole third and scored when Lebinski ripped a single to left center. Newtown’s two other hits in the game were singles by Kaleb Rowe and Virgil Procaccini. Second baseman Stoller made a big defensive play in the seventh inning, racing out to right field to retrieve a single and firing a strike to catcher Austin Raftery to nail a runner at the plate. Raftery had a strong defensive game, blocking numerous pitches in the dirt. First baseman Rowe played solid defense and made a nice tag when Lebinski picked a runner off first in the fourth inning.

Ridgefield 14, Newtown Base Technologies 7: Ridgefield scored nine fourth-inning runs to break up a 2-2 game and never looked back Saturday at Ridgefield’s East Ridge Field. Down 2-0 in the third inning, Ben Stoller smacked a single up the middle, and Kaleb Rowe plunked a single down the left-field line. John Lebinski crushed his first career triple to tie the game, a mammoth blast over the left fielder’s head. In the fifth inning, Austin Raftery blooped a single, and Stoller cracked a double over the center fielder’s head. Rowe hit an RBI groundout, and Lebinski drilled a single, his third RBI of the game. Lebinksi moved to second on a Greg Horne single and scored on an error. In the fifth inning, Marcelino Hernandez drilled a single to right field, Alex Romeo singled and Raftery walked to load the bases. Stoller slapped an RBI fielder’s choice, and Raftery scored on an error. Raftery, Stoller, Lebinski and Horne each finished the game with two hits.
