Destination Newtown Draws A Full House

Taylor Adam Varga sang the national anthem moments before Newtown Savings Bank President John Trentacosta ceremonially cut a large red ribbon to open doors to the Destination Newtown, a Chamber of Commerce Showcase.

With large red scissors poised over a red silk sash, he sliced the ribbon in two and guests and business owners entered the Congregational Church halls Tuesday. Restaurants, banks, nonprofits, private businesses, retailers, and town departments set up booths and offered food samples to the guests perusing the goods and services available in town.

Following keynote speaker Carolyn Finch’s discussion and after enjoying an opening reception, guests queued outside the hall as aromas of pizza, Italian wedding soup, pulled pork, and Mediterranean bruchetta beckoned. Inside was a small business expo showcasing both long-established and new attractions in town.
