Klezmer Band Will Perform At Temple Sholom
NEW MILFORD â Nefesh, a widely-acclaimed Klezmer band, will perform in concert at Temple Sholom on Sunday, August 27, at 7:30 pm. The concert, the second in a series of cultural and vital issues, is made possible by the Rena Cohen Berner Memorial Fund and admission is open and free to all.
Under the direction of Alan Falk of Oxford, Nefesh consists of a diversified group of musicians from a variety of musical backgrounds. Members have experience ranging from rock and folk to classical orchestras and choral societies. They perform a variety of instruments, including drums, guitar, mandolin, trombone, percussion and clarinets.
Nefesh is the Hebrew word for soul. The band reflects the lively spirit and exuberance it brings to audiences, who often get up and dance during performances.
The program will encompass a wide range of songs and melodies, from the shtetls of eastern Europe and ancient to modern Israel to Yiddish theatre, modern melodies and boros. The concert will encompass a vital living tradition and the Jewish musical heritage.
