Innovative Dance In Brookfield Theatre
BROOKFIELD â Country Players of Brookfield will present a highly original dance program as the third in a four-part concert series at the companyâs theatre, sponsored in part by a grant from Connecticut Commission on the Arts. âInnovative Danceâ will be presented on Saturday, August 5, beginning at 8 pm.
The program will feature Adam Battelstein, a dancer with Pilobolus since 1989 and a master teaching artist for the state of Connecticut. Mr Battelstein has performed with Partners Dance Co., Zero Moving Dance Co., and MOMIX.
Mr Battelstein will perform three dance works: âWayward Gallery,â a duet with dancer Jessica Durdock; a dance play entitled âEnya,â which is a whimsical look at the classic Pygmallion tale; and âFigure Stick,â a solo work in which Mr Battelstein dances with a seven foot pole.
Also performing will be PerksDanceMusicTheatre, featuring founder Rebecca Stenn. The company, formed in 1995, comes from the Pilobolus/MOMIX tradition yet carries on the lineage with fresh, new dance transformations, humor, beauty, visual imagery and wild kinesthetics.
Accompanied by Jay Weissman, bassist and music director for the company, Ms Stenn will perform a series of solo and duet works.
Tickets for the dance program are $15 and are available by calling Country Players of Brookfield at 775-0023. The companyâs theater is on Route 25 in Brookfield Center, just off the intersection with Route 133.
