BRANDYWINE RIVER MUSEUM ANTIQUES SHOW MAY 24–26 w/2 cuts

avv/gs set 4/24 #737242

CHADDS FORD, PENN. — Thirty-one antique dealers will showcase a variety of American and English furniture, glass, metalware, ceramics folk art, quilts, Oriental and European porcelain, rugs and other fine collectibles at the 37th annual Brandywine River Museum Antiques Show on Memorial Day weekend, May 24–26. Show hours are 10 am to 5 pm daily.

Hosted by the museum volunteers, all proceeds benefit its Art Purchase Fund, which has added more than 200 paintings, drawings and prints to the museum’s holdings since 1975.

New to the show this year are antiques dealers Mark & Marjorie Allen of Manchester, N.H.; Jane McClafferty Antiques from New Canaan, Conn.; Douglas Constant, Inc of Orient, N.Y.; Norwoods’ Spirit of America of Timonium, Md.; and Michael J. Whitman Antiques from Fort Washington, Penn.

The exhibition, “Beyond Content: Decorative Wooden Boxes,” will go on view in conjunction with the antiques show. In the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries, skillful cabinetmakers created boxes that combined function and beauty.

On Sunday and Monday from 11 am to 2 pm, several dealers will share their “Passion for Collecting” through special talks in the booths. These 30-minute talks are free with admission.

On Saturday, May 24, show-goers can take a guided tour of “Beyond Content” at 9:30 am. The $20 fee includes the tour, breakfast and admission to the show, space is limited, so reservations are required.

Admission is $10 per person. For information or to make a reservation, 610-388-8318 or www.brandywinemuseum.org.
