A Record Response
A Record Response
To the Editor:
In spite of a soft economy, the people of Newtown set records for both food and monetary donations for the FAITH Food Pantry during the recent Thanksgiving week food drive campaign.
Early in the week St Rose Church, the Newtown Womanâs Club, and the Head Oâ Meadow School delivered record amounts of food and cash. The culmination of the campaign occurred on Saturday, November 20, when Newtownâs five volunteer fire companies, as part of their Fill the Fire Truck Drive, delivered 73 turkeys, 128 boxes of food, and more than $1,500 in cash/gift cards. My Place restaurant generously provided lunch for the all the volunteers who restocked the shelves. It was a week to remember, a record week!
When it comes to helping people, the residents of Newtown are special as they stepped up to help those who are experiencing economic hardships. And what would we do without Karin Halstead the âdriving forceâ behind the firefighters? It is a great town and country that we live in. Thanks.
