The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity (SHOP) announces the 2nd Annual Choose Love Outdoor Concert Series will performed in Sandy Hook Village along the magnificent Pootatuck River beginning this month.

Performances will be Saturday afternoons, 1-3 pm, September 19 through October 3. Each event will include a free, outdoor seated musical performance, and tents with free arts, crafts and creative movement opportunities for children. Chairs will be provided for concert attendees.

The concert series will take place in the Village Green, at 5 Glen Road in Sandy Hook (behind Village Perk Cafe at 3 Glen Road). This area has a river walk path that overlooks the Pootatuck River, which runs through the village.

Performances for the 2015 series include:

The Midlife Crisis on September 19, performing hits from the 70s and 80s;

Country recording artist Tat Holler on September 26; and

California Dreamers, performing music of The Mamas & The Papas, to close the series on October 3.

SHOP President Joe Hemingway says it is “an exciting time for evolution and exploration in Sandy Hook Village, and SHOP is excited to be a part of this initiative, bringing on musicians, as well as sponsors who are excited about making a difference in the Sandy Hook community.”

As a family-friendly event, visitors to the Sandy Hook Concert Series will enjoy amazing music while strolling through this quaint pedestrian-oriented Newtown village.

“We invite one and all to come and celebrate the abundance of love and vitality of Sandy Hook’s unique historic heritage and beautiful natural setting,” Mr Hemmingway added. Visitors can stop in any shops, dine in one of the restaurants or have a seat in a chair by the riverside and simply enjoy the music and festive atmosphere as the performers take the stage.

“SHOP is confident that the ‘Choose Love’ concert series will continue to help revitalize the village by bringing an arts and culture scene into beautiful Sandy Hook,” he added. “What better way to bring happiness and creativity to Sandy Hook than to continue to implement a creative and fun yearly project like a concert series that will help transform this tightly knit, loving community into a lively, beautiful, and sustainable place with the arts, and old-fashioned family-fun at its core.”

WEBE 108 Radio is one of the sponsors of the event. Additional sponsors include Newtown Parks & Recreation, Frontier Communications, The Advisers Trust, LLC, PennGlobe, SCB (A Group D'Amico Company), and First Baptist Church of Branford.
