Esther Soderquist

Esther H. Soderquist, 97, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Victor Carl Soderquist, Sr, died peacefully September 27, at the Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital. Born in her home in Fairfield, the daughter of the late Kirk and Nora Whiteman, she was a lifelong town resident.

Ms Soderquist will be sadly missed by her six loving children, Richard Soderquist of Newtown; James Soderquist of Bridgeport; Kenneth Soderquist and his wife, Ruby, of New Canaan; Kevin Soderquist of Northwest, Fla.; Barbara Soderquist of Fairfield; and Arlene Achilli and her husband, Richard, of Englewood, Fla., who survive her. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild (and one expected in May 2019), and several nieces and nephews.

Her loving son, Victor Carl Soderquist, Jr, three sisters, and a brother predeceased her.

Mrs Soderquist worked as an assembler for many local companies, including Bridgeport Brass, Bassick, Bridgeport Thermostat, and Sikorsky Aircraft. She was a member of the women’s auxiliary of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Fairfield Elks BPO 2220.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who took great joy spending time with her large and loving family.

The Soderquist family would like to express their deepest gratitude to caregivers from Carolton Chronic and Convalescent Hospital and the Masonicare Hospice & Palliative Care for the loving, compassionate, and professional care provided to Mrs Soderquist over several years.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 3, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 4, at 10:30 am, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
