Horse Events At Post University

WATERBURY — For horse enthusiasts, now is a good time to start thinking about all the things you need to take care of before you use your trailer again. It is also a really good time to think about what to look for if you are considering buying a trailer, or just need some tips on hooking up or backing up. Craig Bergeron, from Connecticut Trailers, will be at Post University, as part of Post’s Quiz The Experts Series, to offer advice, on Friday, March 25 at 7 pm in the Eagles Nest, Leever Student Center.

Bergeron has asked his girlfriend along to address “trailering from a women’s perspective” since so many women own and drive trailers. He will also discuss the selection of towing vehicles, winter care and annual maintenance so the trailer lasts a long time. Tips on safety and proper hitching techniques will also be part of this presentation.

The Horse

The Horse, the second in the six-part Equine Husbandry series, will be held on Monday evenings, March 14 through May 2 from 6:30-9:30 pm in the Equine Center — MacDermid Hall, Room 212. This course will cover such topics as evolution, conformation, parts of the horse, blemishes, vices, conditioning, herd behavior, types of training, horse industry overview, equine disciplines, transporting horses, fitness for horse, and rider and equipment.

The complete series may be taken in any order, for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) at $525 apiece or for the Post University Certificate at $375 for each eight-week course. No prerequisites are required.

To register, or for more information, call or contact the Equine Management Department at Post University at 203-596-4631, or CBaker@post.edu.
