Chamber Music Summer Festival Is Expanding
WATERBURY â Greater Waterbury Classic Concerts, Inc has added dance and drama classes for its Chamber Music Institute and Festival, to be held August 4-17 at St Margaretâs-McTernan School and Teikyo Post University.
The two-week program, a unique summer music experience for music students ages 5-25, is available on a full-time or part-time basis. Players of all musical instruments and voice students are welcome. Registration forms are available by calling 203-754-5590 or at www.grwtbycc.org.
The cost of the full time program is $750; the part-time program is $500. Registration deadline is July 1.
All music students will have the opportunity to perform before a live audience at an August 7 concert on the lawn at Teikyo Post University.
Donna Bonasera, founder and artistic director of Connecticut Dance Theater in Watertown, will be a guest artist and dance teacher. Ms Bonasera, who has been training high-caliber dancers for over 20 years, has had students go on to dance in Broadway musicals and with ballet companies all over the world.
Guest artists violinist Anatoly Bazhenov and pianist Nadia Magomedbekova, who will perform on August 11, will also teach in the program.
Other faculty include Michael Ferrari, theory, composition and chamber choir; Anthea Kreston, violin; Jason Duckles, cello; Allan Martin, clarinet, saxophone, flute; Louis Romao, guitar; and Brett Poulter, voice and drama. All students will have the opportunity for solo and chamber orchestra performance.
