Resident Elected To Professional Post

James Berliner, CPCU, of Newtown was elected as vice president of Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc (PIACT) at this year’s annual convention held at the Foxwoods Resort Casino. Mr Berliner is managing member of Berliner-Fitelson Insurance LLC in Bridgeport, and president of Berliner-Gelfand & Co. Inc, also located in Bridgeport.

Active in association affairs, Mr Berliner is treasurer and education chair of the Association Programs Committee and is a member of the Executive/Budget & Finance Committee. In industry affairs, he served as a member of the General Accident Agency Advisory Council and the Safeco Agents Council.

Mr Berliner is a member of the Newtown Lions Club. He also served on the House Committee for the United Jewish Center in Danbury. PIACT is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
