The Masonicare at Newtown Nursing Department will sponsor a free blood pressure screening Tuesday, November 16, from 10 am to noon, in the Lockwood Lodge Wellness Center at Masonicare at Newtown.
The screening will be conducted by a licensed nurse. Remember, you can have high blood pressure and still feel fine. For further information, contact Patti Russell, RN, director of nursing services, by calling 203-426-5847.
In other news, the SWIM Womenâs Imaging Center will offer free and low-cost digital mammography screening for women age 35 and older Thursday, November 11, from 11 am to 4 pm, at Masonicare at Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road.
The latest American Cancer Society guidelines recommend that all women have a mammogram by age 40, and then every year thereafter.
Mammograms are free for those who do not have health insurance, have financial limitations, and qualify for assistance. For those who do not have insurance but do not qualify for free services, mammograms are discounted. Appointments are necessary and a physician order and insurance card must be brought to the appointment.
