Nighthawk Athletes Take Home All State & Conference Honors

Several Newtown High School athletes garnered All South-West Conference and All State accolades for their performances this past winter.

All SWC honorees are as follows:

Boys’ track – first team:  Peter Kerns, Brendan Capaldo, Trevor Carey, Jimmy Mooney, Jake Feinstein, Palmer Lintz, Pat Sullivan, and Dieter Gutbrod; honorable mention: Jimmy Leidlein, Chris Arnone, Rob Russo, and Hunter Bassett.

Girls’ track – first team: Amy Anyoha and Lauren O’Connell; second team: Melissa Buccino and Reagan Cerney; honorable mention: MacKenzie Lapp and Briana Hart.

Gymnastics – first team: Leah Wallace; second team: Elisha Wilson.

Wrestling – first team: Cory Fisher; second team: Mac Morlock, Nick Crudo, and Matt Gonzalez; honorable mention: Pat Zingaro, Jame Leuci, and Luca Crudo.

Boys’ basketball – Colonial Division: Kyle Wilcox and Connor Quinn; honorable mention: Taylor Steimle.

Girls’ basketball – first team: Riley Wurtz and Jess Lynch; Colonial Division: Bridget Power and Erin Kenning; honorable mention: Maddy Good.

Cheerleading – first team: Meredith Bridges, Madalyn Petrovich, and Amy Caporale; Colonial Division: Erin Dlouhy, Colleen Durkin, and Emma Sullivan.

Hockey – first team Division II: Mike Allwein and Christian Blais; second team: Evan Isaacs and Alex Kelly; honorable mention: Tyler Hanley.

All State selections are as follows:

Boys’ track – Jake Feinstein.

Girls’ basketball – Jess Lynch (Academic All State) and Riley Wurtz.

Hockey – Christian Blais and Mike Allwein.

Cheerleading – Erin Dlouhy, Megan Evans, Amy Caporale, and Emma Sullivan..
