Forums Explore Health Care Delivery Options, Injury Prevention

DANBURY — Exploring the options available to provide care and support for a loved one will be the focus of discussions on Tuesday, May 10, at a Medical Town Meeting entitled “When A Loved One Needs Care.”

Health care experts from the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) will serve as program presenters, including VNA Executive Director MaryAnn Faraguna as a featured speaker. The program focuses on making health care decisions, care options and evaluating their appropriateness, understanding the financial maze, and available community resources.

The Medical Town Meeting will take place from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Danbury Hospital auditorium, 24 Hospital Avenue. Park free in the Blue Visitor’s parking lot located on Hospital Avenue.

Injury and violence are serious threats to the health and well-being of Americans age 65 and older. Like diseases, injuries are preventable. Find out how you can help prevent numerous accidental injuries in older adults on Tuesday, May 17, when experts affiliated with the Danbury Hospital trauma program address “Injury Prevention in the Elderly.”

The program takes place in the Danbury Hospital auditorium from 7 to 8:30 pm. Danbury Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center that provides highly advanced emergency care. The Hospital’s Emergency Department experienced more than 65,000 visits in 2004, nearly 1,000 of which required response from our trauma program.

Danbury Hospital Medical Town Meetings are free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. A prize drawing, program-focused educational materials, and light refreshments are provided.
