Devoted To Her Family
Elizabeth Kiako Rech, age 81, of Fairfield, beloved wife of Joseph Rech, died Thursday, August 17, with her family by her side. She was the mother of Nancy Fraczek of Newtown.
Born in Bridgeport on August 24, 1924, to Tusha and Kiratsa Shery Kiako, Mrs Rech was a Fairfield resident for most of her life. She was an administrative assistant in the banking industry for many years and was active in Fairfieldâs Junior Achievement program.
She was a lifetime member of St Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, a past president of the church retirees group, she sang in the choir, and was a willing volunteer for many church events.
A devoted wife, beloved mother, and a doting grandmother, Betty âVetaâ will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, whom she cherished.
In addition to Joseph, her devoted husband of 56 years, survivors include her three daughters â whom she referred to as her three precious jewels â and their husbands, Nancy and Kirk Fraczek of Newtown, Karen and Neal Karker of Stratford, and Janice and Mark Sature of Fairfield; and a brother, Nicholas Kiako of Old Saybrook.
She was also the proud grandmother of Brennan and Justin Fraczek and their wives, granddaughters Kristin Karker, Amanda and Alyssa Sature, twin grandsons Neal and Ryan Karker, and great-grandsons Gavin and Keenan Fraczek.
She will be sadly missed by her special nephew James Kiako and great-niece, Tiffany Kiratsa Kiako, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Mrs Rech was predeceased by her beloved brother, Peter Kiako, and two sisters, Veronica Tanase and Francine Theodores. She also leaves treasured friends Miguel and Annie Santiago.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr Benjamin Weisman for his dedication, support, and friendship and to all the staff of 3030 Park Fairfield Healthcare for their comfort, care, and compassion.
Funeral services were held on August 21 at St Nicholas Syrian Church, Park Avenue in Bridgeport, with burial following in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. A Trisagion service was held during calling hours on August 20 at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, Fairfield Center.
