Flagpole Intersection

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 4:20 pm on February 9 at the Main Street flagpole intersection, where Main Street, West Street, and Church Hill Road intersect.

Police said that motorist Jeanne Abric, 52, of 87 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 1990 BMW 325-IC convertible, was waiting at a stop sign on eastbound West Street and was preparing to make left turn onto northbound Main Street.

At that time, motorist Victor Domingos, 37, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2006 Saab 9-3 sedan, was traveling northward on Main Street, police said.

The BMW then attempted to make the left turn, but the BMW and the Saab collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Abric for failure to grant the right of way.

Cadillac Crash

At about 7 pm on February 8, motorist Leo Denault, 72, of Danbury was driving a 2004 Cadillac DeVille sedan westward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Key Rock Road, when a deer ran out onto the street, police said. Denault attempted to stop, but the auto and the animal collided, police said. Denault was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Service Station

A two-vehicle accident occurred at the Friendly Service Station at 151 South Main Street about 4:20 pm on February 2, police report.

A 2005 Toyota Avalon sedan driven by Kim Monckton, 58, of 96 Huntingtown Road, was parked at the service station lot, police said. A 2005 Ford Escape SUV driven by Marie Gerard, 58, of Mahopac, N.Y., then pulled into the service station lot and parked, police said.

In attempting to leave the service station lot, the Ford made contact with the Toyota, causing minor damage to the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they took no enforcement.

Elm Drive

Police said that they stopped motorist Christopher Martinez, 28, of 4 Valley View Road on Elm Drive, near its intersection with Hawley Road, at about 2:20 pm on February 9.

After investigating, police said they verbally warned Martinez for traveling too fast and also charged him with driving under suspension. Police said they released Martinez on a written promise to appear on February 23 in Danbury Superior Court.

Quail Hollow

Police received a report late on the night of February 4 about vandalism to curbside residential mailboxes on Quail Hollow Lane, which is a short dead-end street extending from Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook.

Unknown persons, who were traveling in an unknown vehicle, damaged four mailboxes. The vandals either knocked the mailboxes off their posts or otherwise damaged the mailboxes, police said.

Anyone with information on the criminal mischief is asked to contact police at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Exit 11 On-Ramp

State police report a two-vehicle accident on the Exit 11 on-ramp for Interstate 84 at about 9:50 am February 10.

The collision occurred on the three-lane section of that ramp which feeds traffic to both eastbound and westbound I-84.

State police said that motorist David Schlump, 57, of Shelton was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra in the left lane, as motorist Bonny Sue Kimberlin, 41, of Cuddebackville, N.Y., was driving a 1996 Plymouth Voyager minivan in the right lane. State police said that Kimberlin, who was unfamiliar with the area, made a lane change, sideswiping the Nissan.

There were no injuries. State police said Kimberlin received a misdemeanor summons on charges of misuse of marker plates, failure to have automotive insurance, and making an unsafe lane change.

PT Cruiser

About 10 am on February 8, motorist Coleen Wills, 28, of Silverdale, Washington, was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastward on Interstate 84, about one and one-half miles west of Exit 10, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a median barrier, state police said.

Wills complained of pain, but refused medical attention, state police said. Enforcement information was not available.

Two MV Violations

Police report that they stopped motorist Stacy Lawless, 19, of Danbury near 9 Main Street about 2:09 pm on February 11 to investigate.

Police said they issued Lawless violations for failure to display a marker plate and for driving with a suspended license.

Lawless was released on a written promise to appear in court on February 28 to answer the charges, according to police.

DUI Arrest

Police said that at about 4:55 pm on February 14, they were using radar on Meadowbrook Road to detect speeding violations when they stopped motorist William Lee, 39, of Monroe for traveling too fast.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Lee with driving under the influence, traveling too fast, and with failure to wear a seatbelt.

Police said they also charged Lee on a warrant with two counts of sixth-degree larceny in connection with a November 2011 incident.

 After processing, police released Lee on $5,100 bail for a February 29 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Botsford Accident

At about 11:15 pm on February 9, motorist Henry Erickson, 22, of 2 Kelly Court, who was driving a 1998 Acura coupe eastward on Button Shop Road, attempted to make a right turn onto southbound Little Brook Lane, but the vehicle went out of control and struck a tree on the east side of Little Brook Lane, police said.

Erickson was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. The accident is under investigation.

Queen/Glover

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Queen Street and Glover Avenue about 8:09 pm on February 14.

Motorist Gabriel Barbara, 23, of Bethel, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Yaris hatchback eastward on Glover Avenue, failed to stop at a stop sign at that road’s intersection with Queen Street, resulting in a collision with motorist Donald Bashak, 56, of 49 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 2000 GMC Denali SUV southward on Queen Street, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Barbara an infraction for failure to obey a stop sign.

Car Vs Tree

Police said motorist Clarence Smith, 51, of Hamden was driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, near its intersection with Queen Street, about 11:30 pm on February 13, when he fell asleep at the wheel, and went off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

Smith reported pain, but refused ambulance transport to a hospital, police said. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident.

Police said they gave Smith an infraction for making a restricted turn.
