DERBY — The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's Kellogg Environmental Center has two exhibits on view through the end of October.

The first collection, titled “Fall Landscapes,” contains photographs of the simple beauties of nature in their brilliant autumn colors. The color prints are the work of J. Bruce Whyte.

Mr Whyte, a resident of Killingly, has worked in photography for the past 40 years. His work has been published in American Churches by Roger Kennedy, the 1999 Connecticut DEP calendar and Rhode Island Monthly magazine. He has also won photography awards both nationally and internationally.

Also on view at the Kellogg Center is “Patchworks of History: A Quilt Exhibit.” The exhibit celebrates the cultures, styles, designs and uses of quilts from the 1800s to present day.

Special educational programs for schools and clubs are available by request. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 4:30 pm, and admission is free. For directions, call 734-2513. The Kellogg Environmental Center is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (Route 34) in Derby.
