Every Newtowner who exercises their privilege to vote at local polls on November 3 can pick up an “I Voted“ sticker and spend the rest of Election Day enjoying the fruits of a partnership between local businesses and Support Our Schools (SOS), an educational advocacy group.

SOS supports the best interests of Newtown’s children and a high quality education platform in Newtown.

“As a nonpartisan organization, we are not endorsing any party or candidate, but rather are interested in encouraging all Newtown citizens to fulfill their civic duty and make their voices heard at the polls,” said spokesperson Erin Arcario.

“We asked local businesses to participate in this activity by discounting services and/or goods at 10 percent for customers presenting the ‘I voted’ sticker on November 3,” she added. “So far, we have had almost two dozen local businesses sign on to support getting more voters to the polls on Election Day.”

Kristen Bonacci, co-founder of SOS, said the organization is dedicated to increasing awareness and engagement on all issues that “impact the quality of our education platform in Newtown.

“We are excited to form partnerships with so many local businesses in an effort to encourage the community’s voice through the election process,” she said. “This is a win for residents, education and our local establishments on November 3rd.”

The following businesses are offering 10 percent off to any customer who comes in wearing an “I Voted” sticker:

Villarina’s Pasta, Franco’s Pizza, Eureka Nail Salon, Peachwave, Robert Anthony’s Salon, Queen Street Gifts & Treats, Your Healthy Pet, Barnwood Grill, Newtown Hardware, Burgerittoville, Wells Fargo, Down on Main Street, My Place, Bagel Delight, Toro Restaurant, Nina Nails, The Toy Tree, Newtown Nail Spa, Labels and Tags, Village Perk Café, Sandy Hook Deli & Catering, Sabrina Style, Pizza Palace, Newtown Color Center, BU Juice Bar, Sandy Hook Diner, Sandy Hook Hair Co., EverWonder Children’s Museum, and Chintz-N-Prints.

“We are grateful to all the business participating and want to encourage voters to stay in town and shop — at a discount,” Ms Bonacci said.

Newtown and Sandy Hook businesses displaying this placard on Election Day, November 3, will be rewarding patrons who are displaying an “I Voted” sticker available at local polling places. The voter reward and get out the vote promotion was conceived by the Support Our Schools (SOS) advocacy group.
