State Anti-Smoking Efforts
Head To The Movies
HARTFORD (AP) â Moviegoers in Connecticut will see an âartfully disguisedâ commercial attacking smoking and tobacco makers, state officials said last week.
As part of an ongoing campaign against smoking, the state has distributed a movie âtrailerâ to be shown before feature presentations at numerous movie theaters throughout the state, officials said.
The trailer includes the Internet address for the stateâs new anti-tobacco Web site: www.TobaccoFreeCT.com.
The trailer, to be shown for several weeks during the holiday season, features an âartfully disguisedâ anti-tobacco message, said Maraide Sullivan, a state budget official who coordinates the stateâs anti-tobacco efforts.
Through the trailer and the Web site, âConnecticutâs citizens will be made aware of existing resources throughout the state and will be linked to some of the best tobacco prevention Web sites in North America,â Ms Sullivan said.
The trailer and the Web site are both paid for by a settlement Connecticut and 45 other states reached with tobacco manufacturers.
