Church Hill Road

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Commerce Road about 2:45 pm November 8.

Motorist Matthew Imperidi, 16, of 3 Forest Drive, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1986 Pontiac Firebird, was eastbound on Church Hill Road, as motorist Brian B. Robinson, 25, of Mahopac, NY, who was driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima, was attempting to turn left from Commerce Road onto westbound Church Hill Road, police said.

The Pontiac and Nissan collided in the intersection, police said. Robinson and a passenger in the Nissan, Tom Young Young of West Hartford, reported head pain, police said.

Police issued Imperidi an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Burglary/Larceny

Police report a burglary and larceny at a Grays Plain Road home in Sandy Hook November 12.

Police said someone kicked in a door and stole a television set. Police are investigating.

Juvenile Charged

Police report that at about 12:20 pm November 5 they found a 14-year-old boy at Newtown High School to be holding marijuana. Police charged him with possession of marijuana, issuing a summons for his appearance November 17 in Danbury Juvenile Court. State law shields the identities of those under 16 charged with criminal offenses.

Paraphernalia

Police report that at about 11:30 pm November 8 they found that a 14-year-old girl at Newtown High School was holding drug paraphernalia. Police charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police released her for a November 22 appearance in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Grand Place DWI

About 4 pm November 13, motorist James K. Dubuque, 61, of 20 Grand Place was driving a 1995 Mercury Sable eastbound on that street when the car went onto a lawn and then struck a utility pole, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said Dubuque failed two sobriety tests and refused to take a third one. Police charged him with driving while intoxicated and making a restricted turn.

After processing, police released Dubuque on bond for a November 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Exit 10

State police report motorist Alan S. Eddy, 41, of Madison, who was driving a 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante on the westbound Exit 10 off-ramp of Interstate-84 November 8, stopped at the end of the ramp and was then struck from behind by motorist Justin Moser, 19, of 4 Summit Road, Newtown, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.

There were no injuries. State police said Moser made an unsafe start.

Assault

Police report that an employee of the River Cone Ice Cream Shop at 117-B Church Hill Road and an acquaintance of the employee became involved in a fight in the shop about 7:30 pm November 9. The ice cream shop employee, whom police did not identify, was treated for injuries at the scene by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and then transported to Danbury Hospital, police said. Police said they are investigating the case, which they are treating as a third-degree assault.

Three-Vehicle Crash

Police said motorist Jean T. Kallay, 27, of 25 Laurel Trail, Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1988 Subaru GL station wagon eastbound on Church Hill Road about 5 pm November 16, became distracted and drove into a stopped eastbound 1993 Ford Tempo driven by Robin Randlette, 37, of Oxford, which was then pushed by the Subaru into a stopped eastbound 1991 Nissan pickup truck driven by John E. Cedor, 42, of 25 Moccasin Trail, Sandy Hook.

Police issued Kallay a written warning for failure to drive a safe distance apart.

Burglary/Larceny

Police report that someone made a forced entry into a Taunton Lake Road home sometime during the day November 8 and stole electronic devices and flatware. Police are investigating.
