Atos Trio: Three Voices, One Sound, At Edmond Town Hall
Atos Trio, which has been touring the United States and performed recitals for capacity crowds in Indianapolis, Syracuse and Washington D.C., will perform next in Newtown. The world-renowned ensemble will be on the stage at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, for a 3 pm performance Sunday, October 25.
The concert is sponsored by Newtown Friends of Music.
Founded in 2003, violinist Annette von Hehn, cellist Stefan Heinemeyer and pianist Thomas Hoppe strive to convey the spirit of string quartet playing to the piano trio. Never shying from extremes, the ensemble aims to cross borders and push limits when it comes to sound and dynamism.
The trio has performed more than 300 concerts and appeared at prestigious festivals. It has been praised for its warmth of sound, pitch perfect unanimity of phrasing, and dynamic interpretations.
As the winner of the prestigious Borletti-Butoni Stipend, Atos Trio established their own concert series in 2012 in Berlin with an outreach component. BBC 3 Radio chose the trio for the “New Generations Artists,” from 2009 until 2012, for a number of recording sessions and to be part of the Wigmore Hall concert series and important music festivals in Great Britain.
The Washington Post noted that the “Atos has risen steadily through the ranks to become one of the elite piano trios before the public today. The Atos Trio’s perfect harmony yields master pieces.” The program on October 25 will center around the Czech composers Suk, Smetana and Antonin Dvorák.
Single tickets for Sunday are $25, cash or check only. Tickets may be purchased in advance by sending check and a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Newtown Friends of Music at PO Box 295, Newtown CT 06470-0295. Tickets may also be reserved by calling 203-426-6470.
The box office at Edmond Town Hall will open at 2 pm Sunday, for final ticket sales.
Students K-12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Students with student ID are also admitted free of charge.
Edmond Town Hall is fully handicapped accessible. An informal reception following the concert will offer concert goers the opportunity to meet and mingle with the musicians.
