Are On Their Way

Newtown Schoolâs Building and Grounds Supervisor Dom Posca reported Tuesday, January 16, that construction of the new portable classrooms for the high school was completed Monday, January 15.
The new units have begun their journey to Newtown. Delivery was expected to take place late Wednesday or early Thursday morning at the school districtâs Fairfield Hills warehouse.
It is anticipated that a crane will arrive on Friday, January 19, to begin removing the damaged units. Work will continue on Saturday and into Sunday, if needed, to remove the old units and to set up the new ones. Mr Posca believes the job can be completed over the weekend, thereby avoiding any disruption of classes.
Once the new classrooms are secured on the site, utility work will begin. Electrical and plumbing systems need to be connected.
