Ceramic Vessels For Flowers

By Phyllis Savage

DANBURY — In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, Phyllis Savage is presenting a collection of ceramic flower vessels at Savage Studio until Monday, February 13. The studio is at 93 Mill Plain Road.

On view are graceful porcelain vases in soft colors of white, ochre, celadon and blue that swell and narrow, then open like blooming flowers. Also included are long, narrow, rough hewn wall hanging bud vases.

This is the second annual show centered around her ceramic vases and timed to lead into Valentine’s Day.

“The enjoyment of a beautiful ceramic object goes far beyond its appearance,” says the artist. “The feel of its shape, texture and weight when held, even the sound it makes when tapped all contribute to its appeal.  When combined with the freshness, color and fragrance of flowers the result is a total sensual experience.”
