Nerich, Jr.
Nicholas T. Nerich, Jr., 78, of Redding, died on July 14 at Danbury Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Janet (Baird) Nerich.
Mr Nerich was born in New York City on April 13, 1922, a son of the late Nicholas T. and Katherine (Egan) Nerich. He was graduated from Bryant High School in Long Island City, N.Y., and Fordham University. He served in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Europe where he served in the Timberwolf Division Field Artillery Unit.
After his marriage to Janet M. Baird of Babylon, N.Y., the couple settled in Redding where Mr Nerich was one of the founders of Redding Country Club. He was employed by American Can Corporation, Edwards and Deutch Lithography, William Feather Agency, and last worked for Universal Printing Company as a print broker. He was the former president of Fairfield County Exchange Club and a member of the Redding Board of Zoning.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Mr Nerich is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Nerich of Waterbury, an employee of Taunton Press in Newtown; two sons, Nicholas Timothy Nerich of Santa Fe, N.M. and Dann B. Nerich, his wife Alicia (Dodge) Nerich and grandson, Gregory Nicholas Nerich of Whitefield, N.H.; two sisters, Dorothy (Nerich) Mattes of Sun City Center, Fla., and Constance (Nerich) Bosna of Hampsted, N.C.; and one brother, John Nerich of Tampa, Fla. His sister, Clara (Nerich) Schrieber, preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 18 in St Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Redding Ridge. The interment followed in Hull Cemetery, Redding.
The Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown, was in charge of arrangements.
