Leadership For Women Series

DANBURY – The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce Women’s Business Council, in conjunction with Western Connecticut State University’s Ancell School of Business, is offering an informative education series. The “Leadership for Women Series” will provide advanced leadership training specifically for women who either run their own business or work in an organization in a position that requires leadership skills.

The ten-part series will focus on enhancing leadership skills, organizational effectiveness, and the ability to compete in a competitive world. The first session, “Understanding Your Leadership and Management Competencies,” will help identify significant competencies necessary to be a successful manager/leader, assessing management and leadership styles, and developing strategies that best utilize strengths to become a more effective leader.

“Leadership attributes include courage, passion, ambition, confidence, and drive,” according to JoAnn Cueva, the WBC’s coordinator. “These attributes become the baseline elements required in the pursuit of leadership roles. Achieving success without them is difficult — imagine the personal strain of ascending without confidence, or inspiring your team without them being able to see your passion and drive. Successful female leadership extends beyond just personal attributes to the capabilities required to support effective performance.”

The July 27 workshop will be presented by Dr Arlene Kreinik, a former professor of management at WCSU and an expert in the field of management and leadership. The class will take place from 8 am to noon at the WCSU Westside campus, Ancell School of Business. 

The series will continue starting in September and will cover a host of leadership courses including Negotiations Skills, Executive Decisionmaking, Employee Relations Management, Executive Influencing, and more. Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for each session attended and, a Leadership Mastery Certificate for completing seven of the ten courses.
