Letters Of Endorsement

To the Editor:

David Cappiello deserves our vote for Congress in November.

At a time when our nation needs leaders to see us through difficult times, Cappiello has demonstrated courage and conviction as a legislator in Hartford. When Republican governors were proposing tax and spending increases, David Cappiello stood up and voted against his own party’s leaders. When Governor Rowland was revealed to be using his public office for personal gain, Cappiello was among the first of his colleagues to call for Rowland’s resignation. And while politicians from Connecticut to California were scrambling to spend our money to bail out Wall Street, Cappiello spoke out and said that Wall Street, not the taxpayers, should foot the bill.

Chris Murphy has demonstrated no such leadership or common sense. Murphy has been the lap-dog of his leaders in Congress, following their lead of disastrous tax increases, record spending increases, and dependence on foreign oil a whopping 97 percent of the time. When the disgraced Rowland dangled campaign cash in front of his nose, Murphy threw ethics out the window and embraced his support. And when Murphy’s Wall Street campaign contributors came looking for a bailout, Murphy eagerly obliged and saddled the taxpayers with the bill.

It takes more than words to be a good Congressman — you must have the courage to do what’s right. Simply put, David Cappiello has demonstrated that courage. Chris Murphy has not.
