Summer Bird Walks At Kellogg Center

DERBY — The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s Kellogg Environmental Center will continue its Saturday morning bird walks through the summer, every first and third Saturday of the month, for new and experienced birders and families.

Kellogg Environmental Center volunteer Jay Connolly will conduct the morning walks in search of summer nesting birds of Osbornedale State Park. Mr Connelly lives in the Valley and has been birding throughout the area for 15 years.

Walks begin at 7 am for July and August walks. September walks will begin at 7:30 am.

Participants need to meet at the parking lot of the center, at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (off Route 34). Bring binoculars and field guides, although a limited number of each will be available. Osbornedale State Park/Kellogg Estate Bird Checklists will be provided free to participants.

The Kellogg Environmental Center is adjacent to Osbornedale State Park in Derby. Walks are free and registration is not required. Call 734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm Tuesday through Saturday for directions.
