Hudson-Tolles Will Host An Equine Art Sale, December 10
Equine artist Leslie Hudson-Tolles will be moving soon, but before she goes she will hold a fine equestrian art sale on Saturday, December 10, from 1 to 5 pm, at her home at 22 Aunt Park Lane in the Historic Hattertown district of Newtown. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the Newtown Bridle Lands Association and its open space program.
The artist will be offering original art and limited edition prints, and has said she would be happy to sign the works for purchasers.
Ms Hudson-Tolles has been exhibiting art all over the region for over a decade, from being the featured equine artist at the Winter Horsemanâs Conference in North Hampton, Mass., to her exhibition âInvitation to Ride: Horses of Wood, Horses of Warmth,â which opened in August at the New England Carousel Museum in Bristol.
Along the way, Ms Hudson-Tolles â currently an educator in the Ridgefield public school system â has exhibited at Complete Picture Gallery in Sandy Hook; The Sportsmanâs Gallery in Atlanta, Ga.; the Western States Horse Expo Art Show in Sacramento, Calif.; Carriage Barn Arts Center at Waveny Park in New Canaan, among countless other locations.
Ms Hudson-Tolles has won numerous awards including second place honors at Bethel Art League juried shows in 1994 and first place and Dick Blick Award honors at SCAN juried shows in 1995 and 1998. Professional honors include a Connecticut Art Educator of the Year award in 1991 and a Distinguished Educators Award from the Connecticut Alliance of Arts Education in 2001.
Her horses have been featured on the cover of The Chronicle of the Horse, Visions, and within Equine Images, The Horsemanâs Yankee Peddler, and California Riding Magazine. Additionally, she has art in the collections of the Newman-Woodward family, Denis Leary, John Lyons, The Phil Marino Racing Stables and Brian Williams.
