Special Event At Military Museum

DANBURY — The Military Museum Of Southern New England will host an Open Turret Weekend on Saturday, August 27, from 10 am until 5 pm, and Sunday, August 28, from noon until 5 pm.

The event will be cancelled either day if there is rain.

During Open Turret Days, the public is invited to experience what it is like to sit in the commander or gunner’s position of real army vehicles, an opportunity that is not always available at the museum. The museum’s two latest additions are a Sheriden Tank M551 (Vietnam) and a Saracen armored personnel carrier.

Anyone planning to climb into any of the vehicles must be wearing rubber-soled shoes.

The museum’s current displays will also be open, as will the gift shop.
