Two Divorce Care Programs For The Holiday Season
Two Divorce Care Programs
For The Holiday Season
SHERMAN â The Divorce Care program at Sherman Congregational Church, now in its third year, will offer two special events for navigating the difficulties of the holidays.
The sessions will take place Thursday, November 8, from 6 to 8 pm, and Saturday, December 8, from 9 to 11 am., both at the church, 6 Church Road. Dr Dan Morton of South Kent will lead the special holiday sessions as well as the next series which begins in February.
âThat first time [after a divorce] through Thanksgiving and Christmas or Hanukkah can be especially painful,â Dr Morton said. âAll the traditions, the food, the location, and of course, the family makeup, itâs all changed. It can bring on a profound sense of being alone. And thatâs why weâre doing our âSurviving the Holidaysâ program â twice, in fact.â
Each two-hour meeting will not only connect people with others going through a similar time but each will also equip participants to mentally prepare for the changes they will have to navigate during the holiday season. There is no cost for the sessions.
Sherman Church is a registered facilitator of Divorce Care. Anyone with questions should call Dr Morton at 860-488-1713.
