Gentle Healing Bodywork
Business: Gentle Healing Bodywork
Owner: Stephanie L. Besson, LMT
Background: I started the business in 2005, took a break for domestic matters, then started back up June 2017 in Newtown after relocating from Norwalk. I received my Connecticut state license in clinical massage therapy in 2005 from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy. I hold a BS from the University of Connecticut in exercise science/fitness management, and worked as a Health and Fitness instructor for several years in lower Fairfield County.
Business focus: I say it's about helping people live out their legacy. I provide a unique treatment that incorporates clinical and orthopedic massage, myofascial release, and energy work, which is similar to reiki. I have also been a physical therapy aid and volunteer in hospice and nursing homes, providing simple comfort to residents. In working with people to bring them peace I've decided on getting more training in oncology massage. I am currently working at Maplewood of Newtown and am looking to do more work as a medical massage therapist in other facilities.
Important to know: This work can improve posture, reduce pain, calm the mind, bring one closer to one's life purpose. The unique treatment when received on a regular bases is not so much a luxury as it is therapeutic work for the mind, body, and soul.
Near future promotions and seasonal specials: I host a Meditation for Pain Management session the third Friday of each month from 7 to 8 pm at the Muktinath Holistic Center, 731 Main Street in Monroe. The cost to attend is $15
