WSO To Perform Faure,

Walton And Sibelius

WATERBURY —Waterbury Symphony Orchestra (WSO), under the direction of music director and conductor Leif Bjaland, will perform on Sunday, March 5, at 3 pm, at the Fine Arts Center at Naugatuck Valley Community College.

Maestro Bjaland will present an informative look at the afternoon’s program in a pre-concert lecture at 2:30 pm.

The concert will feature the “Suite” from Pelias and Melisande by Gabriel Faure, Sir William Walton’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra with the young cellist Christopher Pegis as the featured soloist, and Fifth Symphony by Jean Sibelius.

Mr Pegis is principal cellist of Florida West Coast Symphony and cellist with Florida String Quartet. He is the recipient of many awards and honors, and is also artistic director and founder of Amici Chamber Players.

Tickets are $40 for preferred seating and $25 for reserved seating; student tickets are $5.
