Scholarship Honors Fallen Heroes
Scholarship Honors Fallen Heroes
FALLS CHURCH, VA. â The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) has created a permanent memorial to honor the police and firefighters who gave their lives trying to save others at New York Cityâs fallen World Trade Center.
The memorial is a permanent scholarship fund dedicated for children of the police and firefighters who perished in the September 11 tragedy. The fund will finance ongoing scholarships for the surviving sons and daughters as they come of age. The memorial scholarship is an expansion of NBFAAâs longtime scholarship program for children of police and firefighters.
âThe fund will enable us to continue giving to the families of the fallen police and firefighters for years to come,â said Bart Didden, NBFAA president. âWe have arranged for funding to be received directly through NBFAA or to be made through our tax-exempt foundation, the Alarm Industry Research & Educational Foundation.â
The NBFAA is asking its members nationwide to not only contribute to the effort directly, but to solicit the donations of its employees and customers. Tax deductible contributions can be sent to AIREF-Heroes Scholarship Fund, 8300 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
