Volunteers Needed For Home Care

SOUTHBURY — November is National Home Care Month and National Hospice Month. The Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) of Connecticut is seeking volunteers to work for the organizations that provide these services.

Volunteers can work directly with hospice patients and their families, perform administrative activities, help with fundraising, or help with bereavement programs. Last year VNS of CT made over 280,000 visits to more than 5,500 patients in nearly 50 communities.

“Home care is a truly magnificent gift to those whose lives we touch and to those who perform the services,” said John Bimonte, director of human resources for VNS of CT. “Not only are patients and family members grateful for the services they receive, the staff and volunteers who all help make this happen are often times deeply moved by the experience of providing the service.”

VNS of CT has offices in Bridgeport, Derby, Norwalk, Southbury and Torrington. Those interested in volunteering at one of those offices may call the human resources department toll-free at 888/867-3222.
