GBYO Open Rehearsal, April 10

FAIRFIELD — Area music students who will be in grades 5-12 in the fall of 2011, their teachers and parents, are invited to an open rehearsal of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras (GBYO) on Sunday, April 10. The rehearsal will run from 2 to 3:30 pm at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, 789 Unquowa Road in Fairfield. Visitors should enter on the lower level.

Each student who attends will be given an audition information and a free ticket  to the GBYO Spring Concert on May 15. Parents of current orchestra members will give tours of the rehearsal areas and answer questions. Refreshments will be served.

The Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras, founded in 1961, offers one of the finest opportunities for young musicians in the area. GBYO is comprised of five performing ensembles: the Principal, the Symphony, the Concert, and the String Orchestras, plus a Wind Ensemble. These developmentally sequential ensembles are supported by a full range of professional education, coaching and conducting.

Membership includes nearly 250 gifted young musicians from Fairfield and New Haven counties. They are guided by a staff of five conductors and five coaches.

GBYO is seeking new members in all instrumental categories.
