 The girls were lead by 10-year-old powerhouses Nicole Jordan, who recorded a first place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, and Amy Martinelli, who had firsts in the 100 freestyle and 50 fly.
Several family phenom were forces in the pool. Evan Eggleston won firsts in the 25 fly, 25 breaststroke and 50 freesytle. Eliza Eggleston was first in the 100 freestyle and 200 medley. Jennifer, Megan and Shannon McDonald combined for several top-five finishes. Amy, Katherine, and Sally Martinelli all had solid results, with Amy Martinelli winning first in the 100 freestyle and 50 fly. Abigail, Annika and Carolyn Fagerholm combined for several top placements, including firsts in the 100 freestyle, 50 fly, and 200 freestyle. Sisters Bridget and Megan Duero also recorded multiple top-five finishes.
For the boys, Evan Eggleston led the 8-and-unders with first place results in the 25 fly, 25 breaststroke, and 50 freestyle. Alex Weber was first in the 50 freestyle, Charlie Poarch had multiple top-two finishes, and Matt Hess was first in the 50 backstroke. Michael Lally had several strong finishes, including first place in the 200 individual medley. The teenagers were led by a strong Mason West and Andrew Argraves grabbing multiple firsts, and Scott Schmitt swam very aggressively.
Newtown vs Bristol on February 1: The hardworking Torpedoes were defeated by a small and tough Bristol team. The boys lost 175-99 and the girls fell 186-141 at home during the final meet of the season.
The boys were lead by Lincoln Gray, who recorded a first-place finish in the 25 freestyle, Evan Eggleston, who was first in the 25 backstroke, Billy Begg, who was first in the 200 freestyle, Colin McCafferty, who earned a first in the 25 fly, and Andrew Argraves who won top honors in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Brothers Aiden and Brooks Petershack shaved seconds off their times with improving strength displayed in the lanes. Peter Fagerholm had equally impressive starts. The Begg family, Billy, Molly and Erin, are an imposing force every time they are on the blocks and strong members of their relays. Annika Alexander and Kelsey McEvoy (each of whom had two first-place finishes), and Michele Isabella, Amy Martinelli, and Megan Duero (all of whom recorded firsts) all had impressive swims.
