An Evening Of Champagne And Song

RIDGEFIELD — The celebrated coloratura soprano Daniela Sikora will be featured in a recital this weekend to benefit The Ridgefield Chorale. An accomplished recitalist, Ms Sikora has appeared on the stages of New York, Chicago, Detroit, Aspen and abroad presenting concerts of classical music from all periods as well as popular music and standards.

A black-tie optional event will be held on Saturday, September 13, at Keeler Tavern Garden House, 132 Main Street (Route 35) in Ridgefield, beginning with a champagne reception at 6 and the concert at 6:30.

Ridgefield residents Gina Wilson, accompanist, and Hilary Brown, clarinet, along with the chorale’s Small Ensemble, and Wendy Cahill, lead singer of the band Sans Cherubs, will all join Ms Sikora.

The first half of the performance will include a performance of Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen for soprano, clarinet and piano; arias from Die Zauberflote; and selected songs of Samuel Barber, Franz Liszt, George Bizet and others. The second half of the program will take the audience to the lighter side of music including tunes of Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, and George Gershwin.

The Ridgefield Chorale’s mission has always been to promote “joy in singing” and it cannot think of a better way to start off the new season than with a special evening of champagne and song. Because of the intimacy of the garden house, seating is very limited. Tickets are $45 and can be reserved by calling 203-438-7937.
