Research Your Ancestors At The Connecticut State Library

On Thursday, November 12, at 7 pm, the Genealogy Club of Newtown will present a talk by Jim Sanders, the club’s immediate past president.

Mr Sanders will explain how he researched the life of his ancestor Sidney W. Ford using the resources available at the Connecticut State Library. In particular, he will discuss how to trace family history using the genealogical indexes, microfilm, microfiche, and books in the state library’s collection.

The club’s program schedule continues with an informal roundtable meeting Wednesday, December 9, when participants will share their favorite genealogy tips, tricks, and websites. On the evening of January 13, genealogy expert Nora Galvin will give a talk about using special schedules of the US Census for researching 19th Century ancestors.

All meetings of the Genealogy Club of Newtown take place in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

Visitors and new members are always welcome. For additional information, call Harlan Jessup at 270-7887.
