BRIDGEPORT â Lisa P. Oswald will be exhibiting a collection of her recent monoprints at Playhouse on the Green in Bridgeport from May 8 through June 1.
Ms Oswaldâs work presents a decidedly modern twist on the figure. Highly abstracted, somewhat ambiguous and often provocative, her work blurs the line between how most people see themselves vs the way others see them.
âAll my images are interpretations of live model sketches,â says the artist, a Monroe resident. âWhile there are accepted notions of beauty and form, Iâm not a representational artist. To my eye, there are infinite numbers of ways to represent the power, strength and spirit of women. I strive to capture the essence and energy of the figure.â
The exhibit will open on Friday, May 9, during the premiere of Six Degrees of Separation at the playhouse, 177 State Street. The public is welcome to view the exhibition free of charge, during playhouse business hours. Visit PlayhouseOnTheGreen.org or call 866-811-4111 for more information.
