CAN Played No Role
In Dog Wardenâs Firing
To the Editor:
Canine Advocatesâ organization was surprised and saddened by the decision to terminate Carolee Mason as animal control officer.
This decision was made as a result of a police department investigation. Canine Advocates had no prior knowledge of or any involvement in this decision whatsoever.
In the last year, CAN paid for the spaying, neutering and all shots for over 60 dogs and 55 cats that have come through the pound. CAN volunteers continue to provide daily walks and socialization for the pound dogs, as well as contributing to the effort to adopt out all the animals. Fundraisers continue to be a source of funds for both veterinary care and the building fund.
As has been stated in the past, Canine Advocates has no political affiliation or political involvement in the affairs and decisions made by town officials.
Our mission for the last decade, to be a voice for the homeless dogs of Newtown, will continue to be our main focus now and in years to come.
