Police Probe Garner Incident
State police report an incident about 3:30 pm June 9 at Garner Correctional
Institution, the state's high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road.
Correction Officer John Cody was showered with a rain of shattered glass from
a window which was broken by an inmate wielding a piece of steel, state police
said.
The unidentified inmate also broke a sprinkler head causing flooding in a cell
block, state police said. Damaged items included two cell windows, a foot
locker and many floor tiles.
Pending charges in the case include attempted assault on a corrections officer
and criminal mischief. State police said they are investigating.
