New National Honor Society Inductees Welcomed

The Newtown Chapter of the National Honor Society had its annual Induction Ceremonies event at Newtown High School on Monday, October 8. The society adds deserving students to its ranks each year through a night of ceremonies.

Superintendent of Schools Janet Robinson spoke to the students before the induction ceremonies began saying the National Honor Society is more than good grades. Members of the society also give back to the community each year through fundraising efforts and more.

Newtown High School Principal Charles Dumais told the students who were set to be inducted that they clearly demonstrate the qualities the society looks for in its members.

“You’re honorable and trustworthy in all that you do,” said Mr Dumais, listing the qualities that the students before him possess. Adding later, “Tonight I am going to ask you to put it all together: It is time for you to inspire others here at Newtown High School.”

Family members and invited guests were also at the event to witness the new National Honor Society members being inducted.

This year’s inductees were Amylee Anyoha, Molly Arneth, Mergim Bajraliu, Matthew Barra, Connor Bateson, Anne Beier, Lindsay Brestovansky, Meaghan Brophy, Amy Caporale, Patrick Carello, Samantha Chanko, Elizabeth Charash, Siena Cicarelli, Sarah Clements, Kurt Daum, Amisha Dave, Jennifer Davies, Emily DeGirolamo, Anna Dilworth, Bethany Dubois, Ryanne Duffy, Katherine Dunbar, Jamie Duncan, Cassandra Ekstrom, Liia Elken, Kiera Elkow and Christopher Erikson.

National Honor Society President Kate Bartel said she could not be more proud of inducting the new members of the society.
