Esther Michel Lyons

Esther Michel Lyons, 56, wife of Richard J. Lyons, died April 15 in her home in West Hempstead, N.Y. She is the sister of Kathleen Weller and her brother-in-law Gary Weller of Newtown and the daughter of Esther and Philip Michel of Stratford.

Esther grew up in Westport and Weston. She was a graduate of Staples High School. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Sweetbriar College in Virginia and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. She later obtained her CPA from Penn State University. She worked for Peat, Marwick & Mitchell CPA firm, for Governor Thornburgh of Pennsylvania, and later for Celanese Corporation in New York City.

She is also survived by her daughter Michele Lyons, a junior at Stony Brook College in New York; her Aunt Kay Sennello and Uncle Bill of Stratford; Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Joseph Braun of Putnam, N.Y.; and a niece, Stephanie Sigmund, and a nephew, Scott Sigmund.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 19 at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 24 Westminster Road, West Hempstead, N.Y. Burial followed at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, N.Y.
